Louisiana State University Initiative
Under the banner of the Youth Sailing Program, a collaborative activity has been initiated with the LSU UREC Department to offer sailing experiences and ultimately sailing lessons to LSU students. We had a successful day cruise on Lake Pontchartrain aboard Ken Walsh’s 50-ft Beneteau sailboat out of the New Orleans Municipal Yacht Harbor of the South Shore. This will likely become an annual event.
Details on the exact relationship between the Pelican Yacht Club, LSU, and their students are pending but there appears to be significant interest in future collaboration and cooperation by all parties.
