The False River site is basically a pavilion under which we are currently storing four Sunfish and the daysailers of two members. In September 2023, a 10’ x 16’ storage shed and additional dry storage for member sailboats were added to the Club’s facilities. Adjacent to the storage site is an LA Express convenience store. Less than two miles west of the pavilion site is Bueche’s Bar & Grill on whose grounds is located a launch ramp. The Bar & Grill graciously allows club members to use the ramp at no cost. Members reciprocate by buying food at the restaurant. The city of New Roads with its variety of restaurants is only about a 15-minute drive from the pavilion site.

It should be noted that False River is subject to 6-month periods of drawdown for environmental reasons, typically on a three-year cycle. A definite drawdown period has been scheduled for the period, September 2024- January 2025. Sailing is not possible during the drawdown period.
